Compared a $500 website designer against a $50 freelancer for my dog grooming shop and the difference was insane

The $50 guy used a template and my site looked exactly like three other local businesses, but the $500 designer actually asked me about my clients and built something that got me 12 booking requests in the first week, has anyone else had that kind of gap between cheap and decent agency work?

That part about the site looking like three other local businesses hits close to home. It’s the same with cheap contractors or handymen. They cut corners and copy what everyone else does, so everything starts looking the same and forgets your actual needs. The $500 designer probably took the time to understand your grooming shop’s vibe, while the cheap one just slapped a template on it and called it a day. Sometimes paying a little more saves a ton of headache down the road.

Wait, are we sure the gap isn't partly about the $500 designer knowing how to talk to your actual customers? The cheap guy probably just looked at "dog grooming website" and copied the first five he saw, but the more expensive one might have actually researched what makes dog owners book appointments online. Might be less about money and more about someone who actually thinks about your clients instead of just the site itself.
