Fired my first agency after 4 months and the traffic difference still bugs me
I hired a small agency in Denver last spring to handle SEO for my landscaping site, paying them $1,500 a month. After 4 months my organic traffic was flat, still sitting around 900 visits a month, and half the reports just showed "brand awareness" stuff I never asked for. Switched to a one person shop in Fort Collins for $800 a month and by month 3 traffic hit 2,400 visits with actual leads coming in. The kicker was the first agency never fixed my messed up title tags, the new guy did it in the first two weeks. What's the longest you all have stuck with an agency before calling it quits?
Four months is barely enough time for any agency to get real results, so firing them that fast seems rushed to me. SEO takes time, and a site stuck at 900 visits probably had deeper issues than just title tags. The new guy hitting 2,400 in three months sounds great, but I'd want to see if that holds up over a year. Sometimes a fresh switch gets a quick bump that fades once the easy fixes run out. Not saying the first agency was good, those brand awareness reports sound like filler, but judging any SEO shop on four months is a tough call.
