Had a Monday where 3 clients canceled within 2 hours
Lost $600 in retainer work in one morning because two said budgets got cut and one ghosted after the onboarding call. Anyone else feel like the start of the month is getting more unpredictable lately?

Budgets got cut" hits so close to home, I feel like that's been the excuse for half the cancellations this fall. It's getting to the point where I don't even book anything solid past the first week anymore.

Three of my gigs got cut in October alone because of the same "budget got slashed" email. I swear these companies have a template saved somewhere. My buddy runs a small audio setup and he told me last week that someone booked him for an event and then canceled 12 hours later with that exact line. It's making me think about just saving up for a few months and not taking anything unless it's a sure thing. People are so flaky now, I hate planning anything more than a week ahead either.
