I hired a marketing agency that everyone here loves, and they tanked my local leads

They were the top-rated firm for contractors, but after 3 months and $5k, my inbound calls dropped from 15 a week to 2. The issue was their 'brand storytelling' content that didn't mention my city or service area once. Has anyone else had a highly-reviewed agency completely miss the basics for your field?

Ugh, that's brutal. It's like they forgot the whole point of local marketing is to be, you know, local.

Right? The whole "be local" part seems to get lost so often. They just blast out the same generic message everywhere and call it a day. It feels lazy and it totally misses the chance to actually connect with people. Makes you wonder if they've ever even visited the places they're supposed to be marketing.

Is it just me or does this lazy marketing reflect how people treat everything now? I see it all the time with big chains that move into a town and slap their logo on everything. They don't bother learning the local slang, the history, or even what events matter to the neighborhood. It's like they think showing up is enough, but you can tell they never actually opened their eyes when they drove through.
