Question about a digital agency that ghosted me after a $2,500 retainer

I hired a small agency in Austin called Pivot Media to handle our Google Ads for 3 months... they seemed great at first, lots of promises about ROAS. After the first month they stopped responding to emails and just kept billing us. I finally got a call from their project manager who said they were "restructuring" but that was 6 weeks ago and nothing changed. We ended up losing about $1,200 in ad spend because they paused our campaigns without telling us. Has anyone else dealt with an agency that just goes dark like that? How did you get your money back or find a better replacement?

Read a thread on r/PPC about this exact thing last week. Seems like Pivot Media has a pattern of ghosting clients after they cash the retainer. A few people said they filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and that got a response fast. Might be worth checking if they're even still operating, could be shutting down quietly. Grabbing bank records and screenshots of their promises will help if you need to dispute charges.

Ghosting after cashing the retainer" - sounds like my last attempt at online dating, not a business model.
