Vent: a stat sheet from my old agency's pitch deck says the client got 4% of what they were promised
I used to work at a small ad agency in Denver and last week a former coworker sent me the pitch deck we used to win a big account back in 2021. Right there on slide 9 it says the client would see a 30x return on their ad spend in the first year. I ran the numbers myself near the end of my time there and the real figure was closer to 1.2x, which is basically break even after fees. Nobody on the team ever pushed back on that slide because the account was worth $400k a year and we all needed our jobs. The wild part is the client renewed twice. I keep going back and forth on whether I should say something now or just let it go. Has anyone else seen a pitch promise blow up way past what the work could actually do?
