Am I the only one who preheats my air fryer and gets worse results?

I never preheated for 6 months and got perfect crispy chicken wings. Then I read a tip to preheat for 5 minutes and now my fries come out dried out and chewy. Does anyone else find preheating makes food worse?

Preheating is definitely a trap for some foods. It works great for frozen stuff like mozzarella sticks or egg rolls where you want a hard shell fast, but for fresh items it just zaps the moisture right out before the center has time to cook. You're basically flash-frying the outside and leaving the inside raw. Try skipping the preheat and just adding a minute or two to the cook time instead.

I read that some microwaves actually work better without preheating for stuff like that.
