DAE burn their first batch of fries so bad they set off the smoke detector?
I decided to try making frozen fries in my air fryer last night and boy was that a mistake. I figured I'd just dump a whole bag in without checking the basket capacity or anything. My air fryer said cook at 400 for like 15 minutes but I thought 'eh, more time means crispier right?' Turned it to 18 minutes instead. About 12 minutes in my kitchen started looking foggy and then BEEP BEEP the smoke detector went off. I opened the fryer and it looked like a charcoal briquette situation in there. The fries were basically little black rocks that smelled like a campfire. My dog ran out of the room and my roommate came downstairs just to laugh at me. I tried to scrape them out but some were welded to the basket. Anybody else have a first air fryer disaster story or am I the only one?

Oh my goodness, the fries welded to the basket! I have never heard of that happening before. That is honestly impressive in the worst possible way. I thought my first attempt was bad but yours takes the cake. I am still trying to wrap my head around how they bonded like that to the metal. I hope your roommate at least helped you clean it out afterwards.
