My air fryer bacon hack left grease all over the counter, worth it though
So I tried the whole 'put water in the bottom tray' trick for bacon at 375 for 9 minutes. Figured it would stop the smoke alarm from screaming like last Thursday. Worked fine for smoke, but when I pulled the tray out, the water mixed with all the bacon grease and it sloshed over the edge onto my granite. Took me 10 minutes to wipe down. Bacon came out perfect, crispy but not burnt, better than my cast iron skillet honestly. But now I'm wondering, is there a better way to deal with the grease without making a mess? I thought about lining the tray with foil, but won't that just pool up anyway? Has anyone else dealt with this or found a smarter setup?

The real trick is to freeze the tray for 20 minutes after you pull it. The grease solidifies on top of the water and you just lift the whole slab off with a spatula into the trash. No sloshing, no wiping, and the water stays clear underneath so you can dump it down the sink without clogging anything. I run my trays through the dishwasher after that and they come out spotless. Only downside is you gotta wait before cleaning up, but that beats scrubbing granite at 10pm.
