My air fryer ruined 3 batches of wings before I learned the trick

Heard a guy at the butcher shop say "air fryers don't crisp if you crowd them." So I tried just 6 wings in my basket instead of 12 and got that perfect crunch finally. Has anyone else figured out a golden rule for batch sizes?

Yeah that "don't crowd them" tip is key. I found out the hard way that even the spacing matters too. If they touch at all the steam gets trapped and they come out soggy.

Oh totally, I read somewhere that leaving a little space between each fry is the only way to get them crispy all over. It's like they need room to breathe or something haha. I've even seen a tip where people line them up on a cookie cooling rack inside the pan so the air gets all around them. That extra step actually made mine way more golden and less greasy, even though it felt like a pain at first.
