Tried air frying frozen chicken wings and got a stringy mess last Saturday

Honestly, I thought throwing frozen wings straight in the air fryer at 400F would be fine, but after 25 minutes they came out all rubbery and dry inside. I followed a recipe from some blog, but they said to add a tablespoon of baking powder - maybe that ruined the texture. Has anyone else had this issue with frozen wings, or do you always thaw them first?

Holding the baking powder is probably what did it... that stuff needs surface moisture to work, and frozen wings just dump all their water at once in the air fryer.

Baking powder on frozen wings? That is wild, man.
