Vent: When my air fryer garlic bread turned into a smoke bomb

I was making garlic bread in my new air fryer last Saturday and thought I'd just toss the slices in without checking anything. Set it for 8 minutes at 400 degrees like a total idiot. Five minutes later my whole kitchen in Denver was filled with smoke because the butter dripped and burned on the bottom. I had to open every window and fan for 20 minutes while my roommate laughed at me. Has anyone else had a simple recipe go nuclear like that?

Bet it was the one in the hallway that chirps every 30 seconds with a dying battery, right? Those things are like that one friend who never knows when to leave the party. Honestly though, I'd take a smoke detector over a screaming fire alarm any day. At least the detector gives you a heads up before the whole building turns into a bonfire. But yeah, waking up the whole block is a bit much. Maybe your neighbors needed a 3am wakeup call anyway.
