Bought a $240 borescope that couldn't see past my thumb

Picked up a cheap articulating borescope off Amazon to inspect a cylinder wall on a Lycoming. The image was so grainy I couldn't tell carbon from a crack, and the tip kept flopping over. Wasted a full Saturday pulling the jug only to borrow a Snap-On from the guy next bay that worked first try. Anyone else get burned by bargain inspection tools or is it just me?
