Had to choose between a new torque wrench and fixing my old one after it failed calibration at the hangar in Phoenix last month

I went with the new Snap-on TechAngle and it caught a stripped bolt on a Cessna 172 nose gear that my old wrench would have missed, so what's your go-to brand when a key tool craps out?

Snap-on's a solid choice for that kind of work. I usually go with Proto for my sockets and wrenches, they've never let me down on heavy jobs. Had an old Proto ratchet handle a stuck fastener on a Cherokee's door hinge that felt welded shut. The extra heft in the tool just makes a difference when you're leaning into it. Good call on the TechAngle for catching that stripped bolt early.

Oh man, Proto tools are beasts. I read a forum post from a guy who rebuilds tractor transmissions, and he swore by his Proto breaker bar. Said it was the only thing that didn't flex or round off the bolts on an old Deere case. That kind of real world praise sticks with you. Makes sense why they'd handle a door hinge like it was nothing.
