I was skeptical about ultrasonic cleaners for fuel injectors... til I actually ran one
Been turning wrenches for about 8 years now, mostly on GA stuff. My old boss always swore by those cheap ultrasonic cleaners from Harbor Freight, said they worked just as good as the expensive ones for cleaning injectors. I figured it was just hype, you know? Last month I got a set of injectors off a 172 that were totally gummed up from sitting for 2 years. Tried soaking them in carb cleaner, pushing solvent through with a syringe, nothing worked. Finally borrowed my buddy's little $80 ultrasonic tank from his garage, tossed them in with some Simple Green for 20 minutes. They came out looking brand new. Ran them through the flow tester and all four were within spec. Now I'm looking at grabbing one for myself. Any of you guys run the cheaper ones for real shop work or do they burn out too fast?

Bought a $60 one off Amazon three years ago and it's still going strong. Use it mostly for injectors and carburetor parts but I've also tossed in old hand tools and even some jewelry for my wife. It's one of those things where you don't realize how much gunk is hiding in small crevices until you see it all float out. Kinda makes you wonder what else in life we think is clean but really isn't. Simple Green and warm water seems to do the trick for most stuff I throw in there.
