Shoutout to the old timer who spotted my cracked engine mount on a Cessna 172

I was doing a routine 100-hour inspection on a rental 172 at a small field outside Phoenix last Tuesday and almost missed it. The oil stains near the mount looked normal to me, but a retired mechanic who was just hanging around the hangar pointed out the hairline fracture. He said he'd seen three of those crack in the same spot over the years. Anyone else have an experienced set of eyes save them from a stupid mistake?

Agree with you @river_rivera45, had a retired pilot catch a missing cotter pin on my King Air once.

My eyes ain't what they used to be, that's for sure. Last week I spent ten minutes looking for my phone while I was talking on it. So yeah, having a sharp old timer around is like having a cheat code for life.
