The old DC-9 brake job that caught me off guard last Tuesday

Had a main wheel brake assembly fail on a 1980s DC-9 we still keep flying for cargo. The whole unit was so crusted with old grease and corrosion that the piston would not budge, took me 2 hours just to break the bolts free. Back in the 90s, we swapped those brakes in 40 minutes flat, no drama and no rust jacking. I finally rigged a heat gun and a long breaker bar to pop it loose, but my hands are still sore. Anyone else run into older birds that fight you harder than they should for basic parts?
