Battery terminal covers versus marine heatshrink, one kept failing on me

Did a backup power swap on a commercial site in Dayton last month, and the battery post corrosion came back in under 3 weeks. I had used those rubber terminal boots, you know, the red and black ones that just slip over. Switched to marine grade adhesive heatshrink with the glue inside, sealed everything up tight, and it's been 6 weeks now with zero trace of that white crud. The boots trap moisture like crazy, the heatshrink actually bonds to the cable jacket. Anyone else ditched boots for heatshrink on their battery setups, or am I missing something about the boot method?

Ain't it funny how the cheap fix always ends up costing you more in the long run? I had the same thing happen with my boat trailer lights, those rubber covers just held the water in and fried the connections twice before I switched over to the heat shrink. Once you see how much better it holds up, you start noticing all the other places where rubber boots are just a temporary fix for a permanent problem.
