I swore off using adhesive pads for window sensors after one fell off in a storm.

It caused a false alarm that woke the whole neighborhood at 3 AM. Now I drill and screw every sensor into place, no matter what the customer says. My installation time went up a bit, but my reliability ratings shot through the roof. Trust me, taking the extra minute is a game changer.

Man, that's the truth. It's always the temporary fix that becomes the forever problem. Like using tape to hold a car part on, it works until you hit a real bump. Piperf40's friend found that out the hard way with that database. You spend more time babying the shaky fix than you would have just doing it right the first time.

People FORGET that reliable systems require solid foundations, not quick fixes.

Ever see those quick fixes blow up later? My friend kept patching his old database with band-aid code instead of rebuilding the tables properly, and @felix_wilson86 your post nails why that failed. For months it was fine, then one day a simple report query crashed the whole thing for hours. They had to rebuild from scratch anyway, but after losing a ton of data from the crash. All that time saved early on just made a way bigger mess.
