Just lost a whole morning's pay on a bad crimper

Bought a cheap crimper for RJ31X jacks last month, and it mangled every single connector. Had to redo a whole panel at a job in Springfield, which cost me about $150 in time. Anyone have a crimper brand that actually lasts?

RJ31X jacks need a specific die. A lot of generic crimpers just have the standard RJ45 shape. The die for the 8P8C on a phone jack is different. Your tool probably wasn't meant for that connector, even if the listing said it was. Always check the die profile before buying for those.

You check if the crimper die was actually for RJ31X? I've had listings straight up lie about that. Ended up just getting the Klein one after my third bad connector.
