Panel firmware updates are getting sketchy in this area

Last week in Dayton I showed up to a routine firmware push on a DSC panel and the keypad locked up solid, 40 minutes of power cycling before it took. Three years ago that same update took maybe ten minutes and never flaked. Now I'm seeing two or three bad pulls a month across different brands, anyone else noticing the newer builds are less stable than the old ones?
