Stopped hiding keypad wires in the wall and started labeling every single run with a $3 roll of blue painter tape
Spent 4 hours last Tuesday chasing a mislabeled zone in a 6,000 sq ft house in Plano, so now every wire gets tape with the room name and zone number at both ends, and has anyone else found a trick that cut their callback rate like this or am I late to the party?

The real win here isnt the labels on the ends, its taping the wire at every point where it passes through a stud or joist on the way. Had a garbage disposal line in a Frisco remodel that was labeled fine at the panel and at the box but took me an hour to trace because it looped behind a cabinet, and one wrap of tape every few feet would have ended that fast. So yeah your heads in the right place, just push the tape further down the run and youll kill even more of those callbacks.
