That Thursday in 2017 where I ran three service calls and every single one had a different vintage of alarm panel from the 90s

First house had a DSC PC1550 with a dead keypad, second was a Radionics D6112 that someone had wired backwards, and the third was a Vista 10SE with a blown transformer, and I spent more time digging out old manuals than actually fixing anything.

Jumped into a project last week and yep, wired the whole control panel backwards just like @rivera.jesse said. Took me an hour to figure out why nothing was powering up. Felt like a total rookie when I realized all my positives were going to negatives. Had to redo the whole harness, which was way more work than if I'd just double checked the diagram first. Brutal is the right word for sure.
