That time a senior installer told me to skip the wire nuts on panel connections

Gotta respectfully disagree here. Wire nuts add a mechanical grip that tape alone just can't match, especially when you're dealing with vibrations from equipment or someone tugging on the wire later. I've seen too many taped splices come loose over time from thermal cycling in a panel, and that's how you get arcing or a loose neutral that causes weird voltage issues. A proper wire nut torqued down with the right twist is cheap insurance, and skipping it feels like cutting corners to save maybe 30 seconds.

This is just another example of the "get it done quick" mentality that's creeping into everything these days. People skip steps to save a few seconds now but end up paying for it later with bigger problems down the road. It's like not tightening your lug nuts on a car because you're in a hurry - shortcuts on small stuff always come back to bite you.
