The way new guys run wire through ceiling tiles is driving me nuts
Was on a commercial job last week out in Portland and the junior installer had all his wires draped loose across the drop ceiling grid instead of using J-hooks. Said he didn't see the point since nobody looks up there. Three zones ended up with signal interference because the wires were touching fluorescent ballasts. Does your crew have a rule about this or is it just a free for all?

Man oh man, that drives me crazy too. I had a similar thing happen on a job in Spokane last month where the new kid just tossed his Cat6 over the ceiling grid like it was laundry. He said the same thing about nobody looking up there, but we had to redo half his run because the cables were getting interference from the lighting. Now I make it a rule on my crew that every wire has to be secured with J-hooks or at least zip tied to the grid. It's not just about looks, it's about making sure the signal doesn't get wrecked by ballasts or other junk up there.

Wait, you're telling me he actually draped cables over light ballasts on purpose?
