Vent: The forever wait for city permits on basic alarm jobs is ridiculous

It holds up the whole project and makes us look bad to the client. Why does it take longer to get a paper than to do the actual install?

Heard a story last week about a small business waiting months for a permit. The owner said the city kept asking for the same forms again and again. Makes you wonder why they need so much repeated info, right @lily_craig? I saw an article saying some cities are trying to cut red tape, but it's slow going. Seems like the paper pushers have too much power sometimes.

Seriously, it's a mess. I found that sending in three copies of everything stops most delays. Always call ahead to confirm what they need. And get the name of someone who can help you directly next time.
