Glow rods are for people who never learned the bend trick. You do not need to push through a 90, you need to pre-bend the cable so it wants to go around the corner on its own. The trick is to put a little curve in it before you feed it, then spin and push. It pops right around. Homeboy with bare hands got lucky and you gave up way too fast after one try. Fish tape and rods have their place but for short runs in a finished wall nothing beats knowing how to work the cable.
