Hired a general contractor who subbed everything out - saved me $2k but had 3 different crews show up unannounced

I went with a smaller GC for my Calgary basement reno who only does project management and subs out framing, electrical, and drywall. It cost 15% less than the big guys but I had electricians showing up at 7am on a Saturday without warning. Is it worth the savings if you gotta babysit the schedule yourself?

Nothing says "good morning" like a dude with a pipe wrench standing in your living room at 7am on a Saturday. You paid less and got the full surprise party experience. Maybe next time spend the extra $2k so the electricians at least text first like civilized people. At least you saved enough for a nice bottle of whiskey to drink while you wait around for the drywall crew that's "definitely coming tomorrow.

Man, I learned that lesson the hard way too. Always get a text or call before they show up or you'll be standing there in your boxers holding a coffee like an idiot.
