Showerthought: I dropped $1200 on a thermal camera for home inspections in Edmonton and it paid for itself in a month.
Found a cold spot in a wall during a pre-drywall check on a new build, traced it back to a missing insulation batt the framers missed. The builder covered the fix and gave me a bonus for catching it before the drywall went up. Anyone else have a tool that seemed like a splurge but turned out to be a no-brainer?

Ever have a tool you bought for one thing that ends up solving a totally different problem? I got a cheap borescope to look inside walls, but now I mostly use it to find my kids' lost toys under the couch.
