Still think going with the lowest bid is smart after what happened at that Fox Creek job site
Back in May I was subbing on a commercial reno in Fox Creek and the GC went with a guy who bid $12k under everyone else. By week two his crew had ripped out the wrong support beam and we lost 3 days waiting on an engineer to sign off. Has anyone else had a lowball bidder cost them more in delays than they saved upfront?

Man that sucks. Worst I saw was a guy who bid $8k under on a foundation pour and his concrete was mixed wrong, ended up having to jackhammer the whole thing out and start over. Cost everyone on site a full week and the GC ended up paying $15k more than if he'd just gone with the normal bid. Lowballers always cut corners somewhere and it's always the other trades who pay for it in lost time.

Exactly. Learned that lesson the hard way too. Now I only bid with subs I know personally.
