That painted rebar crack in Lethbridge taught me about winter grade concrete
A client's basement slab in Lethbridge cracked 3 weeks after we poured it in November. Turns out the mix called for winter accelerator but we skipped it to save $80, and the frost got in before it cured. Has anyone else had a supplier push a cheaper additive that bit them later, or is it just me?

Did the supplier tell you it would be fine without it, or did they just not mention it? Either way that stings, $80 is nothing next to ripping out a slab. We had a guy swear up and down we could pour a garage pad in late October with no heat blanket and the right mix. Cracked right down the middle by spring. The mix stuff always seems to come down to whoever is cheapest that week. Sorry you got burned on it.
