TIL my laser level was off by 3/16 over 20 feet
Went to check a job site in Airdrie last Tuesday. My apprentice was fighting with his level, struggling with a long closet rod run. Turns out his fancy new Bosch was way out of calibration. Dropped it on concrete the week before, never noticed. I think half the guys in Alberta are working with tools that aren't true anymore. Anyone else ever check their lasers against a known straight edge?

Buddy of mine from Lethbridge had his level bounce off a tailgate and it was off by a quarter inch after that. He hung a whole row of cabinets before he noticed, cost him a full day of rework. Dropping these things once is all it takes.

Oh man, that's brutal! @hart.parker your buddy is totally right, I always tell people to check their level against a known flat surface right after any drop. I keep a straight edge in my truck just for quick checks before I start hanging anything.
