Walked through a new build in Airdrie and the drywall seams were popping everywhere
I went to show a house in Airdrie last weekend, built about 18 months ago, and I counted 6 popped nails just in the living room ceiling alone. The homeowner said the builder used a different crew for the last phase of the subdivision and they've been getting calls nonstop about it. Has anyone else seen this kind of finish work slipping in new builds around Calgary?

I get what you're saying about the popped nails, but I kinda see it differently. Stuff like that can happen with new builds no matter who does the drywall, especially in Airdrie where the ground shifts a lot with the freeze-thaw cycles we get here. Popped seams aren't always a sign of bad workmanship, sometimes it's just the house settling and the wood framing drying out. If the builder is getting calls nonstop, at least they're responding which is more than some builders do. Jumping to blame the "different crew" might be a stretch when it could just be bad timing with the weather or cheap materials the builder picked.

My buddy bought a new build in Airdrie about two years ago and he had the same thing happen with popped nails everywhere. He was so mad he was ready to tear a strip off the builder but I told him to just wait a winter and see what happens. Sure enough after the ground did its freeze thaw thing half the nails popped but the builder came back and fixed them all for free no questions asked. Some of it really is just the house breathing and shifting, not bad work.
