The grey water pipe I found in a wall off Central

I was demoing a closet in a 1950s house near Nob Hill last weekend and found an old washer drain pipe that ran straight into a flower bed through the foundation. The thing was still hooked up and dripping, so the soil underneath had this weird swampy smell and a bunch of mystery green slime. Has anyone else run into abandoned plumbing like this, and did you just cap it or dig it out?

Feels like everyone's got that one thing they just set and forgot, and it ends up being the best fix. Glad yours held up, that's honestly the dream.
