The morning my whole drywall tape job bubbled up in 20 minutes
Last Saturday in my Albuquerque sunroom, I mixed a fresh bucket of mud and taped 40 feet of seams before 9 am. By 9:20 the tape was pulling up in waves because the mud sat too thick and the humidity spiked after a monsoon burst. Everyone swears by setting tape for speed, but I think it's overrated for our climate. I had to scrape it all off and redo it with paper tape and thinner coats over 3 passes. That setback killed my whole day and made me question why I ever rushed a simple drywall job. Anyone else fight humidity surprises here or am I the only one skipping the quick-set products?
