Can we talk about sealed fridge units making fixes impossible?
I've seen a big shift in fridge design over the past five years. More and more models have sealed cooling units that you can't open without breaking them. Last month, I had a customer with a fancy fridge that had a small leak. Normally, I'd patch it up, but the whole system was welded shut tight. The only option was to swap the whole cooling part, which cost almost as much as a new fridge. This isn't real fixing, it's just part swapping, and it makes us look like we don't know what we're doing. I think companies do this so you have to call them or buy new stuff. It's hurting our trade and making customers lose trust in us.

Swapping a sealed unit is still fixing, just a costly one. The design choice forces our hand, which sucks for everyone.

Oh yeah, because nothing says 'user-friendly' like a design that costs a fortune to fix lol. They make it so you can't even try to fix it yourself without special tools or skills. It's like they want us to just buy new stuff every time it breaks. But hey, at least it looks sleek while it's broken, right? Classic move from companies that act like they care but make things that are junk after one problem.

Watched my buddy try to fix his mom's fridge last year. It had one of those sealed systems, and the compressor went out. He's a good tech, but the whole thing was just a glued-shut plastic box. Ended up telling her to just get a new one because the part was so expensive. Felt really bad for her.
