Crazy week started with a fridge that shocked me twice

Last Wednesday I was working on a old Whirlpool fridge in a basement near Oak Street. I go to pull the compressor relay and got zapped right through my gloves, figured it was just a fluke. Then I touched the evaporator fan housing and got hit again, that's when I knew something was really off. Turned out the ground wire was completely loose behind the kickplate, been arcing for weeks. Has anyone else had a fridge that seemed fine but was secretly carrying voltage everywhere?

Whoa, TWICE and you just brushed it off as a fluke? That's a nasty surprise to find loose in a basement, glad you caught it before it got Worse.

Funny you mention it @lindaw12, reminds me of the time my neighbor found a raccoon living in their attic, thought it was just one, ended up being a whole family up there lol. Glad you caught those snakes before they really settled in, a fluke or not that's still two too many in a basement.
