Fell for that 'universal' washing machine drain pump scam
I bought a supposedly universal drain pump for $28 on eBay to fix a customer's Whirlpool. Bad move. It didn't fit the mounting bracket and the flow direction was backwards. I spent an extra hour trying to get it to work before giving up. Ended up ordering the OEM part from a supplier in Austin for $65. Total waste of $28 and a whole afternoon. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way with aftermarket parts?

Same thing with a dryer belt I bought on Amazon, total garbage.

Went through three different Amazon dryer belts before ordering one from a local appliance shop for a few bucks more. That first belt snapped after maybe eight loads, total waste of time and money. Sometimes paying a little extra at a physical store saves you the headache of returns and waiting for replacements.
