Found a better way to test freezer thermostats without a multimeter
I used to always break out my multimeter to check freezer thermostats, but last week a guy in Denver showed me this trick with a simple cup of ice water. You just stick the probe in the ice water and watch the cycle times. Now I can diagnose a bad thermostat in under 10 minutes without touching my meter. Anyone else use this method?

Huh, does that actually save time or just add extra steps?

Nah I gotta disagree here. It actually saves a ton of time if you batch prep stuff on Sunday like chopping veggies or marinating meat. The extra steps at the beginning mean you're not washing cutting boards and knives every single night. Plus when you're tired after work you just grab and cook instead of staring at the fridge for 20 minutes deciding what to make. I used to think it was pointless too but once I tried it for a week I was hooked. The setup feels like work but the payoff is real once you get into the habit.
