Just realized my go-to fix for a Kenmore 417.9 dryer was a total waste of time

I was at a job in a basement in Akron, Ohio, and the homeowner said the dryer wouldn't heat. I immediately started pulling the whole vent system apart, thinking it was a clog. After an hour of work, I found the real problem was a $12 thermal fuse I could have checked first in 5 minutes. Anyone else have a 'usual suspect' they check too late?

Man, don't you hate when that happens? Been there for sure, always chasing the complicated fix first.

Right, my brain also skips the easy answer to go straight for the weird fix. Jade226 and I would probably just stare at a broken toaster for three hours, lmao. It's a real talent for making things harder.

Yeah, chasing the complicated fix is my go-to move too, which is probably why rowan_black and I would be a disaster team.

I actually like the complicated fixes, mary_schmidt. That's where you learn the weird stuff.
