PSA: Check the door switch before you replace the whole control board
Wasted 2 hours swapping out a control board on a Whirlpool washer that ended up just having a bad door switch. Has anyone else ever chased a simple 10 dollar part after tearing down half the machine?

Ha, man I feel your pain on this one. Did almost the exact same thing with a dryer a few years back, spent a whole Saturday cursing at it and swapping out parts that were perfectly fine. Then I found a YouTube video that was like "hey dummy, check the little plastic tab on the door first" and I wanted to throw my multimeter through the wall. The worst part is you feel like a genius for figuring out the fix but also a total idiot for not checking the simple thing first. It's like the appliance repair version of "did you try turning it off and on again" lol.

My uncle's old washing machine had me chasing a bad motor control board for two days before I found a single corroded wire in the lid lock harness. The service manual for that model had a troubleshooting tree that started with that exact component, so I felt pretty dumb flipping past it. Now I keep a printed copy of the basic diagnostic steps taped inside every appliance's access panel.
