Three year old Samsung fridge finally died last week in Austin - should I repair or replace?
Compressor went out on a Wednesday, repair shop quoted me $650 for a new one plus labor, but a basic replacement fridge runs $800. Anyone else stuck deciding between fixing a known unit or just tossing it for something new?

Honestly $650 to fix a three year old fridge that's already dead? I'd probably just buy new. Once the compressor goes that fast, who's to say something else won't pop up in another year or two. Plus you'd have a warranty on the new one and it might even be more energy efficient. Just my two cents though some people swear by fixing their old stuff.

Fix it. You know that fridge's history and how it was treated, a new $800 one might be even cheaper junk that dies in 18 months.
