Took me 3 years to realize I was overtorquing compressor bolts

Had a unit at a warehouse in Phoenix last month that kept throwing low pressure faults. Changed the compressor out, same thing. Finally a senior tech stopped by and just hand tightened the bolts checking my work. Said I was cranking them way too tight and it was warping the valve plate. Loosened em up and the thing fired right up. Been doing that since I started in 2021. Any of you guys use torque wrenches on smaller stuff or just go by feel?

I used to think torque specs on small bolts were just suggestions, that experience changed my whole approach.

Same here, stripped a bolt on a Lennox last year learning that lesson the hard way.
