Vent: This old Maytag washer I fixed had a crazy amount of rust in the tub after just 2 years
Customer said they moved to a coastal town and never used a water softener. The difference from when it was new is wild, the whole inside looked like it was 10 years old. Anyone else see corrosion jump that fast with hard water?

What's the big deal about a little rust? That's just how things wear out near the ocean. You can't expect a machine to stay perfect when it's sucking in salty air and hard water all day. Maybe they should have bought a different brand if they wanted it to last. Two years in those conditions sounds about right to me.

Two years sounds about right" is a pretty low bar. A quick rinse with fresh water after use buys you a lot more time, even with cheap stuff.

Man, it's like people have forgotten how to take care of stuff. I see it everywhere, not just with tools but with cars, houses, even clothes. A little bit of maintenance goes a long way, but most folks just want to use something until it breaks and then complain about the quality. The real issue is a lot of people never learn how to properly care for their things in the first place. It's a shame, because it doesn't take much effort to keep something working good for years longer than you'd expect.
