Had a customer yell at me for 'killing' their tree that was already dead for 3 years

I climbed a 60 foot oak in Austin last month and found a hollow trunk full of termites and rot, but the homeowner swore I snapped the main trunk with my rope. Does anyone else deal with people who think dead trees are just 'resting'?

Heard a local arborist on the radio last week talk about how people get real emotional about trees, like they're family members or something. They were saying owners will deny a tree is dead even when it's got mushrooms growing out the base and bark falling off. Sounds like you ran into the same thing, people just don't want to believe their tree is gone.

See it all the time with people refusing to accept their old car's finally dead too, same denial pattern just different metal.
