Just lost a whole day's pay because I didn't double-check the species on a removal bid
I quoted a Bradford pear removal in Denver last week based on a photo, but when I got on site it was a mature, much larger Callery pear with way more structural issues, and I had to eat the extra time and crew cost of about $800.

Learned that lesson the hard way too.

Did you end up going back to that same client later or did they find someone else? I always wonder if people actually learn from being burned or just get bitter about it. The trip fee thing seems obvious now but in the moment you just want to get the job. Every time I skip a site check I regret it and every time I charge one the client complains.
