My climbing line got chewed up by a squirrel on a removal in Bend and I noticed it mid-cut
Happened about 2 weeks ago on a big ponderosa job, I looked down and saw about 6 inches of frayed core right above my friction hitch. I finished the cut with a pole saw from the ground instead, but has anyone else had wildlife wreck a rope like that?
Rodent teeth grow nonstop so they have to gnaw constantly, and a rope left hanging in a tree overnight is basically a chew toy sitting there waiting.
Learned that the hard way after a pack rat got my lanyard, now everything comes down or goes in a bag.
