That rope trick for big limb lowers actually saved me yesterday

I was taking down a big red oak over a shed in Arlington and my groundie kept fighting the rope on every cut. I remembered some guy at a workshop in 2019 showed me using a half hitch right above the load line to get better control, and man it worked perfect. No more rope burn or fighting the weight on the second cut. Has anyone else tried this on heavy leans or am I just late to the party?
