That time a red oak nearly took out my saw in eastern PA

Back in September I was taking down a 60 foot red oak outside Allentown and misjudged where the weight was pulling. The trunk pinched my bar so bad I had to leave the saw in the cut and climb down to get wedges from the truck. Took me 45 minutes and a second wedge to free it up. Anyone else ever get a bar stuck like that and have to just walk away for a bit?

Did you try tapping the wedges in from above once you got back down? I had to do that with a white birch up near Scranton last fall and it was a real pain.

Yeah but did you try it with a fiberglass wedge or just steel? Cause I swear the fiberglass ones bite into green birch way better. That Scranton white birch sounds like a nightmare though, I had a red oak near Hawk Mountain last year that pinched so bad I had to cut the whole wedge out with a saw. Did you end up having to recut your notch or did the tapping save it?
