TIL I've felled 1,002 trees since 2019 and one number finally made me slow down
Last Tuesday I hit tree 1,000 on a backyard oak in Tacoma, and standing there at 47 with my 261 in my hands, I finally admitted my back hurts after every third removal, so does anyone else keep a count or am I the only one weird like that?
Wait, you think hitting 1,000 is the part that should make you slow down? I see it the other way. Your body gave you that signal way before tree 1,000, probably around 600 or 700, and you pushed through it anyway. That's not dedication, that's just ignoring what your back was telling you for years. I get the counting thing, lots of guys track their cuts, but the number isn't the problem here. The problem is you needed a round number to finally listen to your own body saying stop. Your back hurts after every third removal at 47 because you kept going when it hurt after every fifth at 44. Anyway, congrats on the oak.
